The New Facility:

  • allows the school to serve more children (capacity is now 440 compared to 400);
  • consolidates the two former campuses under one roof - saving travel time and additional work for the principal and specials teachers (library, music and physical education) as well as providing a more collaborative atmosphere for the faculty and staff.
  • provides the faculty, staff and students with state-of-the-art facilities - including a sink and telephone in each classroom, climate controlled classrooms (some classrooms in the former building lacked air-conditioning), public address system and a "top of the line" gym complete with retractable basketball hoops.
  • features classrooms dedicated and designed solely for a single discipline - The school now has a science classroom, science lab, and art and music classrooms.
  • has facilities specifically for reading, math and speech therapy as well as a school counselor and psychologist.
  • allows for collaborations and partnerships with other local organizations. Over the 15 months in the new building UCS has worked with OMTI (Ohio Montessori Training Institute) - now located in Atlanta, Georgia, City Fresh and Ursuline ArtSpace.

The construction of this new facility was both exciting and inspiring. The project was completed on time and under budget thanks to the dedication of the UCS construction committee, the general contractor, Summit Construction, and the architects from Kaczmar Architects.
