Recently at UCS...

  • ...Montessori students are experimented with seeds. They planted some in water and some in soil. Some were exposed to sun, while others were placed in dark areas. The students observed the growth of their seeds to see how each environment affected the plants.
  • ...Kindergarten students participated in an assembly sponsored by AAA. They learned about seatbelt safety and now realize that they all need to be in booster seats!
  • ...First and second level students traveled to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History as part of their unit on dinosaurs. Each of the four classrooms are going to build a classroom dinosaur.
  • ...Third and fourth level students in Mrs. French's classroom opened a store and sold custom created products such as coloring books and pencils. The students are donating the proceeds, over $100, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
  • ...Fifth and sixth level students learned about the properties of magnets and electricity including how to set up and explain simple, series and parallel circuits.
  • ...Fifth and sixth level students went on a special all day field trip to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force courtesy of a very generous friend of the school. Fifth and sixth grade students from  Lutheran Memorial School and Messiah Lutheran School joined UCS for the trip to Dayton.
  • ...Seventh and eighth level students are learning about the Crusades in Social Studies and have become fascinated with their science unit on black holes.
  • ...Seventh and eighth level students also visited Severance Hall to hear the Cleveland Orchestra perform pieces by Music Revolutionaries.
