What is the average class size?
The average class size at UCS is 22 students. Classrooms in the Montessori preschool and level 1/2 have two adults in each room, one teacher and one classroom aide. All other levels share one classroom aide between two classrooms.
Do you accept students of all faith traditions?
Yes. However, all students are expected to participate in the Christian-based religious program of the school.
Do you accept children with special needs?
All decisions regarding children with special needs are made on an individual basis depending upon the child.
Are students required to wear uniforms?
UCS has a dress code, which is established to help the students create and maintain a sense of dignity and respect. Please see the Student/Parent Handbook for details regarding acceptable attire.
On what basis are applicants screened?
The USC educational program is designed to meet the needs of children whose measured intelligence is within the average range.
What geographical areas does UCS serve?
Admission is generally restricted to those students living within Cleveland's Near West Side.
Does it matter if an applicant has a sibling enrolled at UCS?
Yes. Applicants who have a sibling enrolled at UCS will be given preference.
